Rose DeMauro Obituary

Her home was her castle and all were welcome.
Born Rosina Longano in West New York, New Jersey, on May 30, 1928 she was born to Albert and Esther Longano. Rosie was the beloved wife of her predeceased husband Samuel and her cherished son Dr. Peter DeMauro. She will be missed by her beloved son Albert DeMauro, and her daughter in-laws Mrs. Barbara DeMauro and Dr. Linda DeMauro. Mema was loved by her adoring grandchildren; Drs. Samantha and Mark Jablonski, Drs. Christopher and Sara DeMauro, Mrs. and Mr. Rachel and Peter Vandertulip and Dr. and Mrs. Shaun and Cassandra DeMauro. She was blessed with loving great-grandchildren; Madeleine, Vivienne, Clementine, Oliver, Julian, Valerie Rose, Peter James, and John Peter. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins who viewed Aunt Rosie as their second mother.

Rosie resided in Jersey City living a joyful childhood with her brothers Danny and Vinny. It was here that she evolved as a quintessential chef, hostess and entertainer. Rosie’s warm personality led to her to be voted, “ most popular” at her eighth grade graduation. It was in Jersey City, her brother Danny introduced her to her dashing husband Samuel- the rest is history. They eloped, and shortly after Peter, “her flower’” and Albie “her heart” were born.

As years flew by, off they went to Ridgefield, NJ where she built a new life of memories and traditions. A Sunday was not completed without a morning breakfast with the uncles, followed then by a delicious meal for all who would appear. “There is always room at the table”, and “Your heart just grows bigger and bigger” were her favorite sayings. Evenings continued with dessert and performances by her nieces and nephews, while Rosie was in the background singing, slipping goodies into everyone’s mouths and a little money into their pockets. Her home was where she built a lifetime of memories and traditions that will most assuredly be carried on for generations.

Although she traveled the world far and wide, her most cherished moments were in her home hosting her family and friends. Now Rosie is at rest, in her new home with her family whom she sorely missed.
