VASTARDIS Rita (nee Givissis), 93, died in her home in Ridgefield, New Jersey on October 17, 2010. Born in New York City, Mrs. Vastardis lived most of her adult life in New Jersey. A graduate of New York University, she worked most of her professional life as the comptroller for a Jersey-based industrial tools company. She was a lifelong supporter of the Greek Orthodox community and an active volunteer for the Seniors of Ridgefield. She played mandolin in the Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra. She was also a violinist, an avid reader and classical Greek enthusiast. She is preceded in death by siblings Nicholas and Christina Koukoulas, and brother-in-law Anthony Koukoulas. She leaves behind an extended family of cousins, nephews, nieces and Godchildren. Visiting will be at Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ (201) 945-5032 on Friday, October 22 from 7-9 PM. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, October 23 at 9:30 AM to attend the Funeral Services to be held at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Ascension, 101 Anderson, Fairview, NJ on Saturday, October 23 at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation.
