Pauline Mattessich Obituary

            Pauline Mollie Mattessich – 86, of Palisades Park, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday January 2, 2021. Pauline was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on June 18, 1934 to her predeceased parents Paul and Mollie (nee Meaglin) Essig.

            Pauline was a graduate of Leonia High School. Her talents of art, design and creativity started at an early age as she won first prize designing and illustrating the storefront window of the Palisades Park Bakery for a Halloween contest. Pauline was an avid seamstress with an impeccable eye for perfection to detail in all that she made. From costumes to gowns from cake decorating, to artistic projects for her church and vacation bible school.

            Pauline was a very devoted Christian wife and mother. She gave her love, making everyone’s life so happy and memorable. Even her pet cats were given so much compassion and they gave her so much joy. Pauline was employed by Playtex in Paramus NJ and Circle B Lighting in Carlstadt NJ before retiring.

            Pauline is survived by her loving husband Antonio “Tony” G. Mattessich together in marriage for 66 years. Her cherished children - Mollie P. (Jim) Steimle of Mercerville NJ, Anthony W. (Kim) Mattessich of Oakland NJ, Jennifer A. (Bob) Bauer of Moonachie NJ,  and Kirk L (Karen) Mattessich of Rockaway NJ. Grandchildren – James C. (Siobhan) Steimle, Harrison P. (Ashley) Steimle, Karen L. (Shawn) Bruton and Rachael A. Steimle. Christa A. Mattessich. Robert J. Bauer Jr, Priscilla R Bauer. Logan K. Mattessich and Luke K. Mattessich. Great-grandchildren – Teagan and James Steimle, Mason and Macklin Bruton. Serena Steimle arriving soon.

            Family and friends will be celebrating Pauline’s life on June 18, 2021 at a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Samaritan’s Purse, (founded by Reverend Billy Graham) can be sent to:
