KARADONTES
Mary (nee Jounakos), of Long Beach, NY, formerly of Palisades Park, NJ, entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2015 at the age of 87. Devoted wife of the late William Karadontes who died in 2008. Beloved mother of Polly Murtagh of Long Beach, NY and her husband Chris, Peter Karadontes of Palisades Park, and the late Michael who died in 2011. Loving sister of Penelope Panagakos. Cherished grandmother of Andrew Murtagh of Indiana and his wife Naomi, Christina Murtagh of Nevada, Simone Karadontes of Palisades Park, and Jackie Karadontes of Oregon. Treasured great-grandmother of Brian, Natasha, and Elise Murtagh. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mary was a founder and benefactor of Ascension Greek Orthodox Church, Fairview and also of the Cathedral of St. John, Tenafly. She was a member of Philoptokos and Kali Parea. She was also an active member for 75 years of the Florist Transworld Delivery (FTD). Her legacy is her life as a mother and her unfailing commitment to her family. Visiting will be held at Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ (201) 945-5032 on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday at 10 AM to attend the Funeral Service at Ascension Greek Orthodox Church, 101 Anderson Avenue, Fairview, NJ on Friday at 11 AM.
