Madeline Dietz Obituary

DIETZ
Madeline Marie (nee Schuber), of Ridgefield, NJ, died peacefully July 21st, 2013 at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Edgewater, NJ. She was 98. Madeline was born in 1914 in the Bronx, New York City to Madeline and Fred Schuber and her family moved to Bogota, New Jersey when she was seven. She attended Bogota schools and graduated from Bogota High School. She then worked for 8 years as a bookkeeper for New York Life in New York City. After her marriage, she resided in Ridgefield. Although she had interests and friends, and over the years was active in women's and church groups, her main concern and happiness in life was always her family. She was predeceased by her husband Walter M. Dietz, of 44 years, in 1983. She was also predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Albie Schuber. She is survived by her children, Evelyn Dietz Ponall and son-in-law Charles Ponall, Walter F. Dietz, and Fred G. Dietz and daughter-in-law Maria C. Dietz; eight grandchildren: Madeline Marcotte, Jess Marcotte, Walter Dietz Jr., JoAnne Dietz, Denise Torres, Christine Schenkerberg, Michael Dietz, and Michelle Dietz; and nine great-grandchildren. She was a long time member of the English Neighborhood Reformed Church in Ridgefield. Her summer vacations, both before and after her marriage, were often spent with her family at Lake Shehawken, PA. Visiting will be held at Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ (201) 945-5032 on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9 AM to attend the funeral service there at 10 AM. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Donations in memory of Madeline may be made to the American Cancer Society.
