Karl Adolf Koss, passed away on December 1, 2020 at his home in Ridgefield, NJ with his loved ones by his side. In March, he contracted COVID-19 and battled after a long hospital stay complications from that time on. He fought tremendously to come back until the very end, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Karl was born in Bruck a. d. Mur, Austria and came to the United States at the age of 15. He was a talented craftsman and gifted artist. Working with wood and painting gave him peace of mind and brought out the best in him. Many of his friends will have lasting memories of Karl’s hand-crafted Christmas cards, paintings and murals as well as work of Karl’s other craftsmanship’s in or on their homes. He loved to play soccer and was an avid player through his 60’s actively partaking in memberships in several soccer clubs. He was also an excellent downhill skier and watching him ski, was like watching someone effortlessly dance in grace over snow. He was at ease on snow just as he was dancing the Waltz with his lady friends from the Enzian Ski Club.
Karl was a proud Austrian-American, who enjoyed Carpentry, building and maintaining his backyard water features, socializing, being with friends and Family on trips, parties or at home. He was an easy going, free-spirited, fun and genuine man, who loved Movies and could never have enough watches and good food. His warm eyes would “speak” for him and his smile could simply melt mountains. For the last 20 years, he travelled the world with his wife Montia, with whom he shared the passion of the great outdoors. They had a very special connection of true and deep Love and walked thru life hand-in-hand. Together they built the home Karl had dreamed of and mastered several challenging life periods including Karl’s last fight and journey.
Karl was a devoted Father to his two children Jennifer and Monika Koss, Husband to Montia Nestler, Grandfather to his grandson Ethan and kept special relationships with his former wife and Mother of his children, Janet Koss and former son-in-law Scott Russell. Karl will be remembered as a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, dear brother to Kurt, Renata, Nina and Peter, treasured Brother-in-Law to Viola, Daisy and Tilia, Uncle to many nieces and nephews and a truly great friend.
