Upon his graduation, he earned his licensure as a New Jersey registered pharmacist. Drafted into the United States Army in 1963, Jerry served his country as a hospital pharmacist until 1965. After his honorable discharge from his tour of service, Jerry worked in retail pharmacy. Then, in February of 1966, Jerry joined Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, presently known as Novartis Pharmaceuticals, where he rose in ranks to the position of manager of packaging, in which he remained until his retirement in 1995. Residing in both Ridgefield and Austin, Texas, during his retirement years, Jerry enjoyed much of his time playing golf, attending Temple University football and basketball games, hanging with friends and family, and traveling to Europe, especially to visit relatives in his parents' home country of Slovakia, formerly known as Czechoslovakia.
