James Roumas Obituary

ROUMAS
James C., 88, of Ridgefield, NJ, died peacefully on February 19, 2014.
Jim was born in Salem, Massachusetts, son of Charles and Catherine Roumas, was raised in Beverly, Massachusetts, and became a resident of Ridgefield, NJ for the past 60 years.
As a proud WWII veteran, Jim served in the US Navy as an interpreter and pharmacist's mate in Europe. He married his wife Angela in 1957 and they recently celebrated their 56th anniversary. Jim was predeceased by his two sisters, Lillian Danforth and Beatrice Domick. He is survived by his wife, his two sons, Charles and John, and two grandchildren Tyler and Jessica.
A highly educated professional, Jim earned three degrees, a BS in Chemistry from Tufts University, an MS in Public Health from University of Tennessee, and an MS in Hygiene from Harvard University. He served in many government positions including OSHA and the State of NJ. His most recent job was Director of Health & Safety for Unilever Corporation. He also served his local community as Health Officer, and as an active member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Visiting will be held on Sunday from 2-5 PM at Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ (201) 945-5032. The funeral and burial will be held in Beverly, Massachusetts.
