HARTLEY James C. "Jim", of Ridgefield, NJ, formerly of Jersey City, entered into eternal rest on June 26, 2010 at the age of 83. Devoted husband of Josephine (nee Guzzo) Hartley. Beloved father of Jim of Ridgefield, and John of Lincoln Park. Cherished grandfather of Alexandra and Allison. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John and Elva Hartley and his sister, Elva Ryaness. Jim had strong devotion to his family, community and country. He was a World War II US Navy Veteran, Jersey City Police Officer and New Jersey State Trooper. The latter part of his career, he was a maintenance engineer for the Ridgefield Department of Public Works, from which he retired in 1988. Visitation will be at Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Ave., Ridgefield (201-945-5032) on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Family and friends will gather at the Funeral Home on Friday at 9 AM to attend the Funeral Service there at 10 AM. Prayers at Cedar Lawn Crematory, Paterson to follow.
