Ho Sahn Kim Obituary

Our hearts are broken as we sadly announce that Ho Sahn Kim, 33, also known as “Sahnee” to those closest to him, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2020 in Port Jefferson, NY.

Sahnee is the strongest, bravest, and most inspirational role model we know.  Although he has had challenges in his life, he overcame them every day, with a beaming smile, from cheek to cheek, that could instantly brighten up your day and cast away your worries.  Throughout his life, he has shown an affinity for all things food, including asking his mom for kimchi as well as other eclectic items like Pinkberry frozen yogurt, McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish, and Costco chocolate raspberry birthday cake. We will never forget the way he browsed – and playfully tore out his favorite foods in magazines.

Sahnee was also very emotional and sympathetic and had a compassionate heart.  He would laugh when we laugh, showed sadness when we were melancholy, and wiped away our tears with a crumpled tissue when we cried.  Although he did not speak, we communicated with him everyday and we shared our feelings.  He melted our hearts and souls.  He will be severely missed.

Ho Sahn fought a courageous battle against the coronavirus.  We thank the staff at St. Charles Hospital for making his last moments peaceful and also to Maryhaven, his extended family, who supported, nurtured, and gave him every opportunity to live a dignified life.  We know that the staff and his friends at Maryhaven, who have seen him grow and have laughed with him, now also cry for him.

Sahnee is survived by Sungnan Oh, his mother, Ah Young, his sister, and his older brother, Han.  He is also survived by his niece Layla Jenkins and nephew Ethan Hanjoon Kim.  Although his niece and nephew were unable to meet their uncle in person, Sahnee will continue to inspire them to achieve their best, live life to the fullest, and continue his legacy.
