Evelyn Haase

Evelyn Claire Haase, 95 and a lifelong resident of North Bergen, NJ passed away April 1st.  

Evelyn was a teacher in the North Bergen school system for over 50 years.  Evelyn loved traveling near and far, socializing and bird watching and was previously active with the Audubon Society.  Evelyn taught Sunday school for many years at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairview.  

After Evelyn retired, she was very active with the North Bergen Players for many years and made sure to give every performer a hug before the curtain went up.  She enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends.  Evelyn, always doing her best to look her best enjoyed having her beautiful red hair coiffed regularly and then enjoying an evening out to show it off.  She loved to tell stories from throughout her life, whether of her travels, time teaching, family trips to Lake George or simple observations, but Evelyn could also be a good listener and a supportive friend.  

Evelyn was also generous to a fault, remembered everyone’s birthday—both family and friends and did everything she could to make a person feel special.  She never had a cross word for anyone and was quick to offer a word of encouragement or a positive spin.  She loved animals and would go out of her way to care for and spay stray cats.  

Evelyn is predeceased by her parents, Walter T Haase and Elizabeth Koch Haase and brothers Allen, Donald and Walter F Haase and her nephew Michael D Haase.  She is survived by her dear sister-in-law Margaret G. Haase and beloved nephews Robert D Haase, Walter A. Haase and niece Julie A Haase and many great nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her friend, Heather Luzzi-Miller, who enjoyed hair dressing trips and fun evening dinners with her. She will be missed by many other friends and colleagues.  

Viewing is Friday, April 5th 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Blackley Funeral Home 809 Broad Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ 07657.  Funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 6th at 9:30am at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church 925 Fifth Avenue, River Edge, NJ 07661.  Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, NJ.
