Edward A. Banek Sr. peacefully passed away on December 30th, 2023, at the age of 81. A native of the Bronx, NY, he later moved to Edgewater, NJ, in the 1960s, and later to Ridgefield in the 1970s, where he lovingly raised a family with his late wife, Ann (Rambone) Banek, who pre-deceased him in 2007.
Edward is survived by his three cherished children, Kristine, Edward, and Daniel Banek, and is remembered fondly by his two sisters, Rosemary (Banek) McCarthy and Judy (Banek) O’Callaghan. As a proud Grandfather to Delaney, Luca, and Elia Banek, his legacy extends through the generations.
A distinguished veteran, Edward served in the U.S Navy from 1961 to 1964, continuing his commitment in the Navy reserves for an additional 25 years. His dedication to his naval career was evident in his achievement of the rank of Boiler Technician Chief, a source of immense pride for him throughout his life.
Friends and family may come pay their respects Sunday, January 7, 4-8pm. Monday, January 8, 10-11am.
Entombment with military honors will follow at Fairview Mausoleum, in Fairview NJ.
