Dorothy Judith Purcel
Dorothy Judith Purcel (nee Mastropolo), lovingly known as Judy, of Teaneck, NJ, formerly of Palisades Park, NJ, passed away June 24, 2018 at the age of 81. Judy was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Charles Purcel and by her parents, Dorothy and Joseph Mastropolo of North Bergen, NJ. She is survived by her devoted children, son Charles J. Purcel and his wife Donna of Wayne, NJ; daughter Robyn Purcel of Teaneck, NJ; daughter Dana Purcel and her husband, David Palmieri of Bogota, NJ; daughter Judy Purcel and her husband, Lewis Bornstein of Hackensack, NJ. She was a beloved Grandmother to Taisha Purcel and Tanner Purcel of Wayne, NJ. Judy was a loving sister to Joseph Mastropolo and his wife, Noreen of Washington Township, NJ; Karen Vetri and her husband, Michael Vetri of Towaco, NJ; Larry Mastropolo and his wife Carla of Old Tappan, NJ. She was a cherished aunt to Christine Gierla, Kristen Vetri, Megan Langan, Michael Vetri and Patrick Mastropolo. She was an affectionate human Grandmother to the furry family members: Oliver (her Precious), Otto, Patch, Sambuca and Cocoa and a wonderful friend to all those who knew her.
Upon her passing, Judy was employed by the Borough of Palisades Park where she clerked at The Palisades Park Public Library for 46 years. She loved the Jersey shore where she would spend time watching the waves, figuring crossword puzzles, listening to outdoor concerts and reading or watching a good mystery. Judy also enjoyed traveling to sunny Florida and spending time in Disney World with her family. Her family was her source of all joy and she spent all of her time surrounded by their loving presence.
Family and friends will be welcomed at Blackley Funeral Home in Ridgefield, NJ on Sunday July 1st from 2-6 PM. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, July 2nd at 10AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Palisades Park, NJ. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Mausoleum in Washington Township, NJ.
