Bertha E. (Birdie), 89, formerly of Ridgefield, NJ, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at her apartment in Cathedral Village, Philadelphia, PA. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Ridgefield for forty-five years where she was active in the community and made many beloved friends. Beloved mother of Janet Emily Gillease of Philadelphia, PA, wife of the late Robert Gillease, cherished cousin of the late Myrt McConser and beloved friend of Florence Kilpatrick of Maywood, NJ. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 3-5 PM at Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ (201) 945-5032. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Birdie may be made to Friends of the Library, Ridgefield Public Library, Ridgefield, NJ or to Cathedral Village Employee's Appreciation Fund, 600 Cathedral Rd, Philadelphia, PA.
