Anthony Ernest Rega

Anthony Ernest Rega, age 79, of Lakewood, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on June 30. 1938, and was the son of the late Lena and Ralph Rega. Tony was raised in Hoboken and was resident of Closter and Ridgefield, NJ before moving to Lakewood 18 years ago. He was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson College, having studied electrical engineering and physics. Tony was a well-respected expert in the field of optical engineering. He began his career with Farrand Optical Company where he worked under contract for NASA from 1966 until 1969 on the Gemini and Apollo space programs. From there he went to work for American Cystoscope Makers, Inc. where he was Vice President and helped design scopes for the United States military and for medical use, such as the arthroscope. His hobbies included woodworking, painting, bowling and playing bocce. Tony was the beloved husband of 50 years to the late Ethel. He is survived by his daughter, LisaAnne Rega Bicocchi and his grandson, Richard Bicocchi. Visitation will be Sunday, April 8 from 2-6 p.m. at Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ 07657. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, in St. Matthew's Church, 555 Prospect Avenue, Ridgefield, NJ 07657.
