Anthony J. "Tony" Mercadante

MERCADANTE Anthony J. "Tony", 62, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011. Born in Jersey City, he moved to Ridgefield 47 years ago. Devoted husband and high school sweetheart of Judy. Loving father of Jerry and his wife Eileen, Tom, Tracey, Julianne and Buddy the beagle. Proud grandpa of Kyle, Emily, Marisa, Anthony and Andrew. He is also survived by his mother Filomena, brothers Sal and Jerry, sister Marianne, and several nieces and nephews. Anthony worked hard as a carpenter and foreman most of his adult life for Bergen County Carpenters Local Union #253 (formerly Local Union #15). Anthony enjoyed his last two and a half years of retirement keeping up with technology, spending time with his grandchildren, taking power walks and gardening. His wit and gift of gab will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions to Villa Marie Claire Hospice, 12 West Saddle River Road, Saddle River, NJ 07458 and/or to Bergen County Animal Shelter, 100 United Lane, Teterboro, NJ 07608. Visiting at Blackley Funeral Home, 809 Broad Ave., Ridgefield, NJ 201-945-5032 on Monday from 4-8 PM. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9 AM to attend the funeral service there at 10 AM. Final prayers will follow at Cedar Lawn Crematory, Paterson.
